The Great Hunt continues, but one Spider-Man has a plan to stop the Inheritors – the Superior Spider-Man! In addition to attempting to figure out how the Inheritors’ powers work, he’s gathering a team of Spider-Men to take these monsters down before they drive Spideys to extinction!
So who is this Superior Spider-Man and what makes him so Superior?
It turns out this Spider-Man has a secret – he’s actually Otto Octavius! But how, you ask? After a life spent battling superheroes, Dr. Octopus realized that he was dying. Unwilling to go down without a fight, he devised a plan to transplant his consciousness into Peter Parker’s body and prove to his nemesis that he was the better man by becoming superior to him in every way. The plan worked, and for a time Dr. Octopus took over Peter Parker’s life, even fighting crime as the Superior Spider-Man. Peter Parker was eventually able to retake control of his body, but not before the Superior Spider-Man traveled to the future, creating a split in the timeline where a version of him could still exist even though Peter Parker was Spider-Man once more. Alerted to the danger posed by the Inheritors on his travels through the timestream, the Superior Spider-Man has dedicated himself to stopping them!
And remember – the Superior Spider-Man is building his team of Spideys, but he can only bring one through the portal at a time, so stay tuned and see who will join the team from our Community Vote!
